No. You don’t need to be an experienced snorkeler to enjoy the tour. Your guide can help you get comfortable with the snorkeling equipment and introduce you to the marine environment, making the experience enjoyable for different experience levels.
Laughing Bird Caye National Park provides important habitat for a diverse range of marine life, including tropical reef fish, corals, conch and lobster. What you encounter will naturally vary from day to day, which is part of the excitement of exploring a living reef ecosystem.
Come prepared for a day in the sun and water. We recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a camera or waterproof phone case for capturing the day. Similar Placencia snorkeling excursions also recommend a cover-up or rash guard and reusable water bottle.
The tour offers an opportunity to learn about the remarkable coral restoration efforts taking place around Laughing Bird Caye. Restoration work began there in 2006, and nursery-grown corals have since been planted throughout the area to help restore reef habitat.
